tinytim : Sadly, even though there have been advances, it is still nowhere near equal. To name a couple of remaining issues, women of childbearing age or who have young children are still passed over for job opportunities and pay is still not equal. We'll get there one day. Like you said, things have progressed in the past 50 years. It was better for me than it was for my baby boomer mother. It will be better for my daughter (who is 15) than it was for me. Considering that it's taken 50 years to get to where we are now, maybe my granddaughters will be on equal footing....maybe. Even though there are anti-discriminations laws, employers still find ways to skirt around them.
@Sammee : Um, If you have young children and the other person applying does not and I need someone to work 90 hours a week how can I even consider the person with children? This is not discrimination.
There is no wage gap.
