This is only the second time the Greek alphabet was needed for named storms. And we are well ahead of that record 2005 season. Hurricane Beta formed October 26th of 2005!

@Daaaaaave : I would tomorrow. Also, don't park on the street any time we have heavy rains. It doesn't have to be a hurricane. Our streets are designed to flood. During Harvey some of my neighbors parked in the street and didn't realize their cars had flooded. Their driveways were empty. They were not too happy.

@Daaaaaave : It really depends on your street's drainage capabilites. Our street will only flood if rain is hammering down relentlessly for an hour or more. Pinehurst doesn't have to worry about lake flooding, but if you have a bayou next to you it may fill up fast. Asking your immediate neighbors is your best bet.

Still, as of 10 p.m., Beta's track is highly uncertain, but coastal flooding from storm surge and inland flooding from heavy rain is looking more likely. The stronger winds might not make to our coast until Tuesday or Wednesday but we'll get the rain and coastal flooding as early as Sunday.

Any updates this morning? I checked Space City weather & didn't see one yet today.
