@rocket : COVID-19 is actually more deadly than seasonal flu. I suspect the mortality rate for the flu is only higher because, to date, more people have become infected with the flu than the coronavirus?! However, COVID-19 is not as deadly as SARS or MERS.

@JoeGuzman10 : Best stay away from crowds and gatherings then. There's a houseful of kids another website, and they are always on the move. I will bet they will catch it somewhere.

I always cook and stock up during winter so I never have to go through this. I would suggest gradually cooking a few things you like up in quantity if you're concerned about it. Stocking up too much doesn't really help unless you would use it anyways.

@chasinghosts : Yes, I wouldn't buy stuff we don't normally buy but I could store toilet paper and some paper towels. We have tons of kitchen towels that can be used so paper towels are not necessary. I'm thinking buying up flour and things to get back to real cooking. If they are not used I am sure the pantries would love some donations. That being said, how will people that rely on donated goods get by?
I hope it is just hype but being better prepared seems to be a smart idea.
