My dog attacked

...a cat. In her [my dog] defense, the cat was in my garage. I really wish my next door neighbor would stop leaving food out for strays

@notarobot : I'm betting the neighbor doesn't vaccinate, deworm or spay the strays. The animal control on Camino off of Hardy Toll Rd. will let you borrow traps and will come pick up the strays when caught. Unfortunately, my mother had a neighbor who dumped food out for what started as a litter of stray kittens....but turned into about 40+ inbred cats, because they didn't vet and neuter/spay.

Sorry for the cat but that's what dogs do. So many strays out there. Emoticon

@Sammee : Thanks for that information. I don't know if they are strays but I have 3 cats that go into my backyard every night and yowl.

@Sammee : I wouldn't lose any sleep if my dog fatally wounded a cat in my garage, home, or (enclosed) back yard. I also discourage leaving cat food out, because it can attract other wildlife. I've removed and relocated three raccoons from my attic in the past four months

There is a lease law in Harris County and that goes for cats also. Report the neighbors to animal control.

A lease law for cats? Really?

@jrshabby : Technically it is not a lease law it is a restraint law. Cat wandering around the neighborhood with no tag/license is a stray. There is even a poop law, technically you cant let your cat wander around pooping in peoples lawns either.

A. All dogs and cats must be kept under restraint while in the unincorporated areas of Harris County, Texas. The custodian of a dog or cat is not authorized to have, harbor or keep any unlicensed dog or cat, or to allow any dog or cat to become a stray.

My neighbor's outside cat likes to walk between our houses and use the bathroom right in front of my backyard gate. I'd like to trap and relocate him.
