Rules are rules!!!! This is the problem with America! People have looked the other way for several years and it has hurt America! Work on changing rules you do not like instead of hiding!

Ok. Listen up because I received intel this weekend on this case and will not divulge my sources.

1. Dress code was not changed mid year.
2. Barbers Hill has maintained a clean cut hair code which includes. Above ears; not touching collar; not touching eyes (male).
3. Toward #2 - district receives accolades from other districts and parents in the well structured competitive organizations regarding children's grooming and good manners. Many times over.
4. This young man is an outstanding student and very well mannered.
5. Up to now, he has been able to pass #2 above by keeping hair up.
6. When fitting for cap and gown, his hair would not fit the cap; hence, he took it down. Was told he had to wear cap for graduation so hair had to fit somehow.
7. The administration has allowed this student (and others) to stay within the dress code w their long hair by keeping it pulled up and away from neck, eyes and collars instead of telling to cut it
8. #7 is where they began to fail in enforcing their own code.
9. Now, because his graduation cap won't fit, they have chosen to try to enforce hair code.
10. Due to the districts lack of enforcement, boys are now sporting long hair without pulling up or having razor cuts with Mohawks. It has gotten out of control.

Why? Because they failed to enforce from the get go. So, having signed the code, do you think his own parents should have foreseen an issue or do you think it was ok to allow the young man to put his hair up and find a workaround for the hair code even when the school was not enforcing.

Considerate conversation welcome....

Hmmm. So let's say he decides to identify as a female, what hair rule would apply then?

From what I've read it's not the dread locks, it's the length of his hair.
Rules are rules to attend school, no guns, drugs, etc allowed.
If you don't want to abide by the rules, home school or enroll them in a private school.

I remember a kid in my daughters class that had long hair and other problems but he was in the top 10. The principals had told him. letters were written, teachers hid him. He skipped a lot and I think the teachers counted him present anyway....... He is now in prison.

@carol888 : Not suprised. Alot of my students have either killed (3 have) or been killed. I worked K-8 and the 3 that have killed were in Severe Behaviour classes. They should have never been in Public Schools to begin with.

@TheCatsMeow : So their timing is completely off. Proving their point is only going to backfire on them. Should have just kept hiding him a few more months.

School official on news tonight said he was not suspended (as mother reported). His hair is too long, nothing against the dreadlocks. Mommy just wanted some attention.
