If you are really worried about people touching your food, probably shouldn't eat out. Just saying. Emoticon

With that being said, thanks for the positive feedback about Door Dash. Never knew the service existed.

@HumbleGirl : Is it appropriate to tip? Or are tips expected by the delivery driver?

@tinytim : Yes, the app allows you to do it. I just do 10% unless it's terrible weather or something.

Shipt is another awesome service - grocery delivery. You can get a link from me or another user and get a years membership for $50 reg $99 (plus i get a kickback). After that, any delivery over $35 is free. I choose HEB, but there are other stores to select from. The app is so easy to use. I add things over a few days as I realize I need or want something, then I submit and choose the day (can be same day) and the one hour window during which I want it delivered. So just need toilet paper, laundry detergent, bread, and milk? Done! Or want someone else to haul your big cases of water, gallons, sodas, sports drinks, dog food, charcoal - done!

They will bring it to your door or on into the house if you wish. You can tip in the app after they leave, I usually do 10% depending.

Also as your shopper ships for you, they will text you through the app things like - Ms Bairds is out, would you like Sara Lee or skip? Chocolate is out, but there is vanilla, replace or skip? But usually everything is in stock. I just had this issue at Thanksgiving. You also get alerts like "starting shopping, anything to add?", "checking out now", "on my way".

I haven't been in a grocery store in over 30 days.

I have used Kroger home delivery. Dh was out of town on an unexpected business trip and I was recuperating from major surgery.

Ordered and requested 4 pm delivery, so Ds/Dil were home from work and could carry in and put up everything. Definitely worth the delivery fee in cases like this. BTW: This was a semi large order with items I wasn't allowed to lift.

Received everything as ordered....no broken eggs, nothing outdated and no smashed bread. Texted delivery was loaded and on the way ....arrived at 4 pm!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

They also honored coupons loaded to your Kroger card and in-store coupons as well. 😍

@HumbleGirl : Wow thanks for all the info. Now I need to teach my mother how to use a smartphone. She insists upon maintaining her independence and living by herself.

These apps will help her if I can teach her how to swipe.

My only problem with Shipt/HEB is the higher item prices than in store on top a delivery fee and tip.

@CelticStorm : I didn't even notice there were higher prices. But you are right, seems like about $.20 more per item, some more or less not sure what that's based on.

I guess it's just what's worth it to you. Me, I'm not couponing, I'm not going to multiple stores for deals, I'm not stopping at the dollar store for wine and the Aldi for fruit to save a few bucks. I can barely be bothered to use the various savings apps, although I do use Ebates when I can remember.

This online grocery shopping has really picked up. I have noticed on my Wednesday morning shop at the HEB there have been less moms in their yoga suits over the past months. Thought something was up. Danged intraweb. Had something going there for a while.
