Man these kids did come from good families, involved in sports, good schooling. I've grown skeptical of this story. Or at least the way it is being portrayed and perceived with the wording from the police.
Wyche was charged with the following. Not with auto theft.
Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle occurs when a person operates a motor vehicle without the owner's consent; it is also referred to as joyriding. This statute is different from the general theft statute because in this situation the offender intends to return the vehicle to its rightful owner. As a result, the level of offense is not driven by the value of the vehicle that was used.
So who's vehicle did he have? Friend or family member or total stranger?
Then the police mention they were "casing neighborhood" but it doesn't match the story that they were seen on Atascocita road. And the police then stopped them in Kingwood Glen. So they were casing the neighborhood with the police following them?
What second vehicle did they flee in? Assuming not stolen since no charges there - so like were they at their home.
I just have so many questions about this one.
