@West-Tex : When I used to see lightning like that in movies (like Hollywood movies), I really thought they were overdoing the special effects. This storm had the most complex lightning of anything I've gotten on video yet. Most of the cloud-to-ground lightning I get is the typical bright bolt with no branches.I've been posting all of this in the original 4K so that you could see the frames with no modification. Basically, so folks could do their own close-ups exactly like you did. I've noticed that not all of my images are in 4K once I post them, however. The web site (Atascocita.com) is sneaky and compresses a lot of the images anyway. I will set up a public cloud drive so all of the original images are available in 4K without any compression or modification.

I made a 5x speed hyperlapse of the last 90 seconds before sunset on the 7th. That's when I figured out that the drone was in the rain so I had to land ASAP. These 2 back to back frames are pretty cool. The first one is pretty normal, but the second picture looks like daytime.

This is a 5x hyperlapse that takes place around 7:00 PM on 7/7/2026. The drone is above Atascocita Shores and mainly faces north and northeast. About 15 mins of video is condensed into 3 minutes. There's some great lightning and you can really see the roiling clouds. The drone did a great job staying in place with all of the wind. If you look closely at the end, you can see some really fast 5x cars on the Lake Houston Bridge.It looks especially cool when you increase the video player speed to 2x. Here's a shot of the drone remote controller that I took while I was making the above video. I get those strong wind warnings a lot. I've never lost control of the drone because of wind. At worst, wind just drains the battery faster because it has to fight to stay in the same place.
