Democratic Socialists The New Dem!
I have noticed a very quiet, no post, no opinion from the dems on here about where their party is heading. Curious if they are on board with this new dem party that has taken all the wins lately. I don't want to hear that we are already a socialist country. FDR did a very, very, socialist thing and there are lots of arguments about if he was trying to save capitalism or turn our country socialist. This new social dem ideology is something different and they all have some country destroying ideals. So just wondering how many dems will vote for them just because they have a D behind their names or will think this is going to far.

@Atascocita888 : The Democratic party is nothing like it used to be. Thinking of JFK here. Wondering what he would say to see his party so radical, left and bordering Socialism?

@ParksideRes : No one is giving these socialist dems a label. THEY ARE giving themselves that label. You also know that. Please don't feign ignorance. You follow politics daily and you know who is winning against the old guard. Hard to ignore so don't act like you have no idea.

@Atascocita888 : And that's what I figured peddling off of newsmax and Facebook memes.

You don't even know any names.

Just give us one, I want to go check them out and see what's so scary.

@Atascocita888 :
Are you complaining about beating out incumbent people?

Trump has been doing that since he took office. " Drain the swamp" AKA make it as swampy as you possibly can.

Get into some actual details here and see what you're actually worried about. You've given no explanation whatsoever that's of any substance.

Let's start with Mamdani. What's so scary what he's actually done so far?

Let's see if you can do it without getting into ADC jail. Those replies don't push notifications.

@ParksideRes : City-owned grocery stores. Expansion of public housing. He has proposed building large amounts of permanently affordable, publicly supported housing modeled in part on Vienna's social housing system. Higher taxes on corporations and high-income earners. He has advocated increasing corporate taxes and adding taxes on households with very high incomes to pay for expanded public programs. The problem: this is to expand public programs. Or socialism. Free or heavily subsidized public services. Nothing is ever FREE. Support for worker-owned cooperatives. He has sponsored legislation to encourage worker-owned businesses through government contracting preferences. Worker-owned is not bad. However, through government contracting preferences? Also to the Socialist Democratic home page and read what it says about worker owned. Support for single-payer health care at the state level through the proposed New York Health Act. He also has frozen rent fees.
What is scary is this is just the start. Once NY starts bleeding through its eyes the hand will come out to the Federal government begging for help. Too Big To Fail….you know how it goes.

City-owned grocery stores. #msg2190610

@Atascocita888 : Ok, cool. Serve people where capitalism fails to. People need access to food beside convenience stores and bodegas

He has proposed building large amounts of permanently affordable, publicly supported housing #msg2190610

@Atascocita888 : oh wow, helping house human beings. So dreadful!

@Atascocita888 : Well, we're 40+ years after the "trickle" promise. There is really no need for corporations and their ceos to hoard wealth. Since Reagan, we have seen the profits of corporations and management skyrocket exponentially compared to those who actually provide the labor. The money does absolutely no good to society sitting in accounts. Either pay the taxes on the excess profits that aren't put to good use or start actually paying the labor their worth of the fruits they grow.

Support for worker-owned cooperatives. He has sponsored legislation to encourage worker-owned businesses #msg2190610

@Atascocita888 : Nothing wrong here. Workers getting equity in the company they help grow.
As for doing business with these types: every state and city, including Texas, have preferences for contracts. Texas specifies veteran own businesses go to the top of the list.

Should preferences of any sort be banned?

He also has frozen rent fees. #msg2190610

@Atascocita888 : On properties that receive subsidies from the state/city. The properties have been marked as rent controlled. Owners know what they are getting into. Tradeoffs. Yes rent can be frozen, but on the other hand there are subsidies and guaranteed income.

Support for single-payer health care at the state level through the proposed New York Health Act. #msg2190610

@Atascocita888 : Wow, concern for everyone's health in a system that is failing from capitalism in healthcare. It works all over the world in western civilizations, but concern for the health of others is the lowest of low to a conservative apparently. I guess that's why 17 of the 20 states with the lowest life expectancy are Republican controlled. "You have a right to life, if you can afford it!". I have absolutely no qualms if my tax dollars help someone's health. It's absurd to me to think people hate that.

It's mind-blowing the amount of people I see rail against "socialism!" Online. But then have a devistating medical emergency and immediately get a GoFundMe going to pay it because they can't afford to.

Do you like Social Security?
How about pension plans?
Is insurance a good thing?
Do unions help the American worker?

There is a difference between social programs and pure socialism.

No one is seriously advocating for the complete nationalisation of the economy.

Republicans really like these things:

Tariffs and trade restrictions: those are socialist in nature

Agricultural subsidies: those are socialist in nature

Blocking foreign technology and trying to bolster american-made technology: that's actually socialist in nature

Shall I continue?
