As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, this week we sat down with
Andrew Guise, Owner of Flying Biscuit Café!

Tell us a bit about your business:  What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
Flying Biscuit Café is a Southern-inspired restaurant known for serving brunch all day. We specialize in comfort food with a twist, from our award-winning creamy dreamy grits to our famous Mimosa Flight. The brand has been around since 1993 and has spread rapidly across the southeastern US ever since.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
I’ve always had a passion for great food and creating spaces where people can gather and enjoy a meal together. When I discovered Flying Biscuit Café, I knew it was a perfect fit – it’s a brand that’s built on quality ingredients, Southern charm, and a strong sense of community. The opportunity to bring this unique dining experience to the area and serve the local community made opening this franchise an easy decision.

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
We’re incredibly proud of the quality and consistency of our food, and rolling out our new menu items has been superfun. We always love to see the smiles on our customers’ faces when they try something new that they love. Beyond the food, what sets us apart is our atmosphere – we’re more than just a restaurant. We’re a commitment to excellent service and a welcoming, edgy environment makes every visit special, whether it’s your first time dining with us or you’re a regular who knows the staff by name.

What is your favorite part of running this business?
The best part of running a Flying Biscuit is the people – our guests, our team, and the relationships we build every day. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing families, friends, and coworkers gather around the table to enjoy great food and great company.

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?

We welcome everyone – from early risers grabbing breakfast before work to brunch lovers looking for a cozy spot to enjoy amazing food and drinks with family and friends. Our menu offers something for everyone, including vegetarians and health-conscious diners. Whether you’re a student, a professional, or just someone who loves food, you’ll feel right at home at Flying Biscuit Café.

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?
My background is rooted in business and hospitality, with years of experience in customer service and restaurant management. I’ve grown up in the Kingwood area and live near our store. My goal is to make every guest feel like family and ensure that each visit is a great one.

Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you'd like to mention?
Absolutely! We’ve just rolled out our new brunch menu items, which are to die for. My personal favorite is the Bistro Chicken, but from what I’ve been hearing, the Firecracker Shrimp is becoming the fan favorite. Along with the new food items, we’ve also rolled out new Mimosa drinks available by the glass, a flight, or a bottle.

Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?
We’re more than just a restaurant – we’re a community gathering place. We love supporting local schools, businesses, and organizations, and we’re always looking for ways to give back. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re looking for top tier catering services, or if you’re looking for special offers for your organization.

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
We’re excited about growing within the community, expanding our catering services, and being more than just a breakfast spot with our new brunch items. We’re always looking for ways to enhance the guest experience. Our goal is to make Flying Biscuit Café a go-to spot for brunch lovers, for years to come!
