A group of local musicians have banded together to bring live music to Kingwood in a way like never before.
The inaugural Kingwood City Limits (KCL) will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, 12pm-10pm at Kingwood Town Center Park.
Kingwood
City Limits is the brainchild of members of several bands who decided
Kingwood needed its own music festival. Co-founded by Whit McConnell of
51 Proof and Chris Vaughn of Headbangerz Ball, a committee was formed
that includes John โDJโ Wisser of DadBod Band and Christy Archer Janacek
of Christina Renee & The RETROspective to add live music and marketing expertise.
โWe talked about how there needed to be a way for the area to see and hear all of the great talent Kingwood has to offer,โ said Whit McConnell, of the band 51 Proof, member of the Kingwood City Limits Committee.
Co-Founder
of KCL and Headbangerz Ball member Chris Vaughn, shares, โPeople can
see us at venues all around the area, but there has never been one place
where families can all gather and see us at one time. There is a wealth of musical talent in Kingwood that people donโt know about and we plan to change that.โ
This
family-friendly event at Town Center Park will also feature vendors and
booths from local businesses around the Kingwood area. Tony Austin of
Town Center Park said, โWe are excited about hosting this community event where there will be food trucks, activities and, of course, great live music!โ
Christy
Archer Janacek of the Band Christina Renee & The RETROspective also
shared, โThis Kingwood City Limits event is just the beginning of our
dreams for KCL. In addition to providing a free family-friendly event
for what we hope will be an annual event, we want this event and network
to build a solid infrastructure for the live music industry in Kingwood
for future generations. We want to create a central collaborative
โspaceโ where venues and artists and fans alike can access information
about what is happening in our area, get together to network, jam and of course perform!โ
We
are so thankful for our sponsors for helping to cover the cost of
putting on this event. โThe bands are also working for free to help this
event go and growโ, said John โDJโ Wisser of DadBod Band. โWe just want
to entertain Kingwood families and enjoy a nice Spring Day rocking the stage.โ
