As part of our ongoing Getting to Know Your Local Businesses series, this week we sat down with Joseph Summerlin, owner of TX Coins & Stamps.

Tell us a bit about your business:  What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
Texas Coin and Stamps offers on the spot cash payments! Also, no need to bring in boxes of stuff to our office, we Prefer to come to you! Ive worked with the Senior Community my whole life and have learned much from their wisdom. Some companies will just pay you Silver or Gold prices on those items, we take the time to look at your coins! I've been a Coin Connoisseur my whole life, but a few years ago decided to go after my passion full time!

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
After Years and Years of understanding, appreciating and comprehending the coin business, I decided to go full swing into the coin dealer business. I wanted to be that guy someone could call and take the time to listen to their questions and be able to buy a coin deal and help them understand what they have. So with that being said, I took the Leap!

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
If you read the reviews from other companies, very quickly you realize that a lot of coin dealers or even their employees don't take the time to listen!! I am known to be a Very Good Listener and Old Fashioned in the way I talk and approach individuals. I would say what separates me from the competition is actually caring about my customers.

What is your favorite part of running this business?
My Favorite part of running the business is of course the Amazing People I get to work with! I love hearing Seniors tell me their life experiences and  being able to take their legacy of their coin collection and be careful about how that Legacy continues.

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
My Ideal Customer would be someone who has a diversified coin collection! Our Minimum Coin purchase is 20 silver coins or more. Along with our coin collections we also purchase silver and gold items.

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?
I am Originally from Jackson,MS. My wife and I have been here in the Kingwood/Humble area since 2009! My background has been for years in the Financial Insurance Industry, along with a side passion of nature and horticulture.

Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?
At Texas Coin and Stamps we want you to feel comfortable about our business transaction. We have a nice comfortable office We can meet at or like most people prefer I can come to your home! I take the time to look at your coins and to see if any might be rare! I really try to make it feel like someone who you want to do business with! Lots of my customers call me again and sell me other items and of course it's nice getting Referrals as well.

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?

I see Texas Coin and Stamps expanding each year! We are constantly looking for ways to Improve our Customer Service Experience and Of course Make sure are paying Top Dollar for our purchases!
