@Vinbert : check your payment history on there. It looks like you missed last month. It happens to me from time to time even when I think I've done it.

Was the July due date July 3? Maybe they didn't process it in time?

@Luckysis : That bill was sent on the 5th, and it was already reflected. When I get the email that my bill is ready, I always pop in and check on it. That occurred earlier this month. It just said the 57.60 then. Today when I pop in to it, because I was going to pay it, that's when that $146.25 showed up. That was not there earlier this month. I'm going to say July 6, because that's the day I got my email notification that it was available. The email also show just 57.60. I've emailed them, but have heard nothing back from them. I was not able to contact them by phone. I tried.

So, finally got through to them. They said my bank could not find the account. So, they're charging me for last month's bill, this month's bill and a $35 returned check fee. AND I won't be allowed to pay by e-check again, I'll have to pay the extra $2.75 fee to pay by debit card.
I already didn't like them, what with their exorbitant late fees. I've literally paid this account, with that same checking account, for the last 15 years.
And no, I won't go on autopay. I'm always afraid of some kind of crazy bill, and then a huge amount gets taken out that I wasn't expecting.

I've been on auto pay for years with mud 132. Never had a problem. Knock on wood..

@Vinbert : I didn't like that our district had the highest rate, but I learned to live it. However, the recent 53% GRP increase was a complete slap in the face. AUTOPAY, HECK NO!!!

@Vinbert : Looks like the bank made the mistake…. I would take it up with them and ask them to reimburse you the extra fees. While you're at it have them contact the MUD managers and apologize for messing up your account. Ps. I don't think they can restrict you from using your banks bill paying service…

Water has gone up so much. I never do auto pay because my neighbor had hers set up and one month they charged her $620 and drained her bank account. She's never paid more than 50 and there was no leak. I don't trust them at all.

@Smokeybear : yeah, I think that's what I'm going to do. I don't use them much, I prefer to go to each company's website and do it myself, because in the past, the bank payment seems to be much slower.

@Blackhorse77 : Exactly! There are very few things I will trust to autopay. The mortgage and my car insurance are probably the only things - oh, and the small things, Netflix, Hulu.
