@RajunCajun : Oh man! I know I have been to the river somewhere but I don't remember where. I rarely get in the surf here unless my Goddaughter's kids are here and they make me crazy getting too far out but at least Mom or Dad is watching.
 
@ladybeachbum: yeah. This is a river that you can never, at any time, enter. Very dangerous.

I grew up on the Mississippi River, and we had to wait for a barge to come by to see a wave, haha!
So true about the mighty Mississippi being dangerous.

That river deserves the utmost respect, probably more than any other in the country IMO....Historically, this country wouldn't be as developed as it is today without the ease in transports of goods and such that it made possible....

@EddyFree: absolutely. And Louisiana would be extremely impoverished without it. The river provides great jobs to Louisiana citizens. Dh has had jobs in several locations along the river for many years
