Turkey bones

My turkey bones are on and simmering. Every year the day after Thanksgiving I take the turkey carcass bones, skin and the vegetables we put inside when we roasted the bird and boil them. It makes a nice rich stock. I then use the stock to make turkey soup. After it makes a nice rich stock I will strain it and then make some cornbread to go with the soup later. It will be a good soup day. Not really cold but just wet and dreary. Stay tuned for the finished product. Hope everyone has a great day today. Stay safe and diligent if you're out fighting the craziness of Black Friday shopping.

@Weathergirl5 : I do the exact same thing. Egg noodles, corn, potatoes, chopped turkey. Delicious.

@Weathergirl5 :
All that sounds delicious. I'm far too tired to do anymore cooking today. I buy beef and chicken bone broth for the health benefits, protein and collegen. My grandmother sipped bone broth, she said it was good for her bone s Emoticon Soup today would definitely hit the spot.

@ParksideRes : Yep! It's so good and easy to make. Plus I feel like I'm not wasting anything. Homemade stock is way better than store-bought stock anyway.

@bap : I can imagine that would be good for the bones. This is the kind of stock that when it's in the refrigerator turns to Jell-O like consistency until it's heated back up. So it must have a lot of collagen in it.

@Cbear finished product. The soup turned out wonderful. The broth was rich and delicious. I have some left freeze and some for later in the week. Tuesday should be a good soup day.

@ladybeachbum : Next year remember to save the bones and skin. Put it on the next day and let it simmer for several hours. You will end up with a nice rich stock. Even if you don't use it now you can freeze it for later. Saves money at the grocery store to from having to buy premade stock.
