sandman : I wonder how much I got wrong with my pre- election predictions on trump(not much).

Disappointed but didn't melt down or threaten to leave the US. Glad I am close to retirement though so I can watch the **** show from the cheap seats.

I do sympathize with your situation as well and wonder if the trump immigration BS is behind your fiance's difficulties in obtaining a visa.

Watching from the cheap seats isn't bad at all!

For the first time in my adult life, I didn't vote. It wasn't a decision I took lightly, but with everything going on in my life right now, I simply didn't have the time or energy to properly research the candidates and make an informed decision. And since I'm preparing to leave Alaska, I felt it was better to leave those decisions to the people who will be living with the results.

As for my fiancée's visa, we're still not out of the woods. Thanks for asking.

Hopefully all the hate mongering will end. Doesn't matter if you're right, left or middle, we are all Americans. We need to do what's good for everybody, not just the rich.

I have not had a meltdown thus far. I just wish everyone could find it within themselves to behave as adults should. I hope that everything works out for the United States of America. I vote, but I don't claim to ALWAYS BE RIGHT. Sometimes, I have viewed the ballot and did not care for what either candidate stood for. But, then again, to tell the truth, I DO NOT TRUST most of the politicians. Most of them are like car salesmen, in that, they will tell people anything to make a "sale." And to be totally honest, I dislike MOST people because MOST will stab you in the back if it suits their agenda. (And, yes, EVERYONE has an agenda). I did not like it when they overturned Wade vs. Roe (Republicans). If they valued life, they would value the mother's life also. If a child has been raped, a 10-year-old does not have a fully developed body that can support a pregnancy. A woman who has a dead fetus within needs to have the dead fetus removed as the tissue breaks down, gets in the blood steam and can kill the woman. They need to allow the medical community to deal with medical decisions. Politicians are ill-equipped to deal with such decisions. I also did not like it when they (Biden Administration/Democrats) left the borders WIDE open so that just any felon could come into the United States. So, you see, I have a PROBLEM with BOTH SIDES. That is why I prefer dogs over people. (Lol ... I'm not arguing with anyone today. I am just stating my position point-blank. Like it, don't like it, don't care. Opinions are like ***h*les in that everyone has one). Good Morning and Have a Great Day! Emoticon

CarolS : I have an in real life friend who posted some of the ugliest most vitriolic nasty comments on social media about Republicans (of which I am). I welcomed to our area as she was from Houston. I went above and beyond to connect her to friends and help her get settled. I have not replied, but I am having a difficult time not thanking her for showing me who she truly is. I don't think that I will be seeing much of her in the future.

CarolS : First off, "define rich". Truly. What is "rich"? Secondly, why should anyone bust their behinds only to have it taken by the government to give to someone else who didn't work for it? How do people live with themselves taking from others like that?!!! The thought of taxing our kids who have worked so terribly hard to give it to someone who couldn't get off their rear-end and hustle makes me hurl. As Margaret Thatcher said, "The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money." The "rich" (if they truly are) provide job opportunities by hiring others. And those people in turn hire people which creates additional opps. The opps are out here for those who will work.

The voters have spoken and the pendulum has swung- bigly. After recent events it's hard to see much of a different outcome. Just like 2 years ago I believe this election was more lost by one side than won by the other. As always, I'll hope the best for the new crop of elected officials as their success is our success. Although I don't expect a huge change in the trajectory of our country. The people will, for one reason or another, be dissatisfied with the accomplishments- or lack thereof- of our fine representatives, and the pendulum will continue its swing in a desperate attempt to get some actual beneficial representation. This war in Iran was the straw that broke the elephant's back. The republicans are now faced with a decision as the dems were 2 years ago and must look inward to find out why they experienced such losses, adapt and restructure. Moving in a different direction is their best bet.
