@AMCLady : We are out. Traffic is crazy with people still trying to get in. Police should stop them . This came up really sudden.

West-Tex : Stuck in traffic at Surfside. A million cars along the road because surg started about an hour ago. We had to stop everything and just get out. Road out was flooded . It may be a bad one.

@ladybeachbum :

Stay safe!

I'm hoping it stays minor.
This popped up on my memories from a year ago. The water got right up to the door then all of a sudden started to recede even though it was still pouring.

@TexanFan1 : Yes, we made it back but slowly. I am now remembering things I wanted to bring back. We have a large collection of sand toys and I wanted to make sure I got them for my Goddaughter and her kids. She has so many good memories. Guess what I dug around and climbed over everything to find and FORGOT because things got so strong? I am so mad at myself!

As of 10 a.m. Sunday, Beta's center was around 180 miles southeast of Galveston. A slightly faster motion is expected to occur during the next couple of days, followed by a slow down and a turn to the north and northeast Monday night and Tuesday. A move inland is expected Monday or Monday night.

Beta is expected to remain a tropical storm as it nears the coast.

A Tropical Storm warning is in effect for parts of Southeast Texas, including Houston, and from Port Aransas to Intracoastal City, Louisiana. Initial rain bands will move through the area today, bringing gusty winds.

Tropical storm force winds extended outward from the Beta's center up to 195 miles. Those winds could reach the area as early as Sunday night.

The center of the latest forecast cone from the National Hurricane Center has the storm making landfall near Matagorda Bay before making that turn. There is still some question as to how far inland the storm will travel before a northeast turn.
