Patrician Almond a theater teacher at Timberwood Middle was arrested around 8am before school on May 8th for DWI. Police spotted Ms. Almond driving erratically, swaying through multiple lanes on highway 59 and even scraping the concrete barrier.

She is currently still in the classroom teaching as the incident happened off campus and did not involve students. School officials have said the matter will be decided through the court room.

You can see her astonishingly bad mugshot and get additional details below.

I know the photo is bad, but we all make mistakes. She has never been in trouble with the law before, but the media will drill the story no matter what. This is her first offense and it's just a misdemeanor. With a good lawyer she will get probation, community service and still keep her job. Good luck and god bless you and guide you in the right direction.

@Moon:

I agree whole heatedly, she should keep her job. In the conditions you are kept before processing you into jail it's impossible not to look awful for a mugshot.

That doesn't change the idea that this is information that should be openly available to the public for curiosity sake though not persecution of the woman charged.

News crew there right now at the school. I think it's a Spanish network. The microphone has a big T on it. I'm guessing Telemundo.

She should keep her job? She was on her way to school to teach our children while DRUNK. Anyone really believe this was the first time she taught children while under the influence? Anyone?

If that's true about her having returned to work, it's outrageous! If I had a kid in her class now, I'd be making some serious noise!

I'm losing my faith in this society and its human condition little by little every day.

I had the same thoughts, BL. Getting drunk is one thing. Driving drunk is a criminal offense. Driving Drunk at 8:00 am on her way to teach children is more than a 'mistake' in my opinion.

As someone else said, I hope she gets the help she needs and I wish her well in a new career.

@Undecided:

I hope she gets the help she needs, too. But she should do it on her own time in the absence of children who rely on her for their education (i don't believe a drunk is going to magically rehabilitate over night...and if she was drunk at 8am fully intending to enter the classroom, she's likely a drunk).

I would welcome her back at such a time that she has fully recovered, but in a probationary capacity until such time she has proven she can be trusted again.

Some here seem to think that being under the influence on a teaching job doesn't seem all that bad. You never know what alcoholics are capable of in the throes of their disorientation. That's the nature of alcoholism/drug addiction...unpredictability!

No she did not get arrested again, in fact this is her first time getting arrested period. Therefore, the judge will not be harsh on her, besides she has a good lawyer. She actually lives in Porter, and I am not surprised by the look of the picture. Don't they all look like that in Porter? Sober or not?
