Humble ISD and Summer Creek High School have released this letter about rumors of violence and an inappropriate relationship between a student and teacher.

"Dear Summer Creek High School Families,

I want to take this opportunity to provide factual information, prevent rumors, and keep parents informed about two situations.

First, there is a rumor about supposed violence at SCHS on Thursday. As soon as staff became aware of the rumor, school administrators and police immediately launched an investigation. Our investigation included questioning students and parents, property and phone searches, and police home visits. I want to assure you that the investigation found no actual threat. There were no weapons, nor plans of violence. There were only rumors resulting from conversations among students. While this situation was not an actual threat, it is essential that all concerns continue to be reported. We investigate every concern.

Secondly, Humble ISD Police and school administrators are investigating an incident in which three photos were air dropped onto some students' phones this week. Two of the photos show a teacher. The third photo, downloaded from the internet, shows a male body part. On iPhones, the choices for AirDrop are "Receiving Off," "Contacts Only" and "Everyone." Someone within the vicinity of those who received photos was able to distribute the images to those who had "Contacts Only" or "Everyone" as their settings. Some students who received photos then showed their friends.

While this is an on-going investigation, I can share that a.) the teacher did not air drop the photos and b.) there is no evidence of an inappropriate teacher-student relationship.

Haaaaaaaaaaaa I doubt any good will come of this. It's still high school and they're minors nonetheless. Someone's about to get destroyed.

Absolutely NO trust in public schools these days. Administrators and a lot of teachers have lost touch with reality. They're too concerned about the schools' image.
Why do they only allow their own police/security to do investigations? They close ranks and attempt to hide facts. These are our children and they deserve to be protected.

How extremely unfortunate for that staff member.

On a separate note, I read an open letter, on FB, to the Humble ISD board about being more transparent. Why did it take me reading the post several times before I realized they weren't talking about being a trans-parent in the school district?

@HumbleGirl : No thanks. I was not speaking of this incident specifically.
HISD is not the only school district that conceals facts.
We need to elect board members who are regular citizens/parents; not doctors and lawyers who have proven they couldn't care less about the kids getting an excellent education in a safe environment.

Anytime an incident occurs I have always been extremely pleased with how swiftly that school, and even district, have handled the situation. If outside authorities are needed they bring them in. I've never felt they've swept anything under the rug. They're willingness to communicate with the parents openly is amazing.

@eighteen : No. Most ISD's have a record of being evasive & more interested in "CYA" than the students.

I don't have kids in school anymore. That said I think it's really telling where our society is nowadays in that a school has to address an alleged body part that may or may not belong to a teacher sent through social media.

Damn I'm glad there was no such thing as an Internet when I was growing up.
