Search underway for 2 people after boat sinks in Lake Houston

HOUSTON - A search is underway for two missing people in Lake Houston after their boat sank, according to Houston police.

We're told three people were onboard at the time when the boat sank, but only one was able to swim to shore.

Crews were out in the Atascocita Shores area around 3 a.m. Sunday after it was reported that a boat sank with three people onboard.

We're told that one person on the boat was able to swim to shore, but the other two did not make it. Search efforts are still ongoing and include multiple agencies.

KHOU 11 has a crew headed to the scene and we will provide updates as soon as we get them.

So very sad. Why if not an excellent swimmer would they not have lifejackets on? Even if they were, night takes another precaution. I'm guessing they just wanted to fish. Prayers for all the families.
