My wife is enjoying her Queen's Crepe Myrtle tree that finally bloomed for the first time this year.

@ParksideRes : I probably should have phrased this as 'this year for the first time'. It has been flowering all summer. Amazing that it is continuing to go strong and looks like there still are many more flowers to come this year.

Mine are all still at it, full of blooms. The ones I've never noticed before is my Olive trees, the blooms smell so good. I have them potted on the patio, the breeze makes them smell heavily.

@bap : I have crepe myrtles and they bloom when they want and I will take that. I need the ones by the power lines cut. Will wait until the weather gets better.

@Joscei : I need to go out and see if mine is blooming. It hasn't so far and my hibiscus hasn't bloomed since we had a freeze two years ago. It didn't die but must have gone into shock. Maybe I need to fertilize it? It's growing big but no blooms.

@ladybeachbum :
Hibiscus 🌺 need acidic soil. Clip the leaves off, down to bare limbs, sounds crazy but it works. They come back fuller, with the right fertilizer, they will bloom. Lots of sun and good drainage. I would do it in late Spring. The deer ate a friends down to the bare limbs and they grew 2 ft in no time...try it. Emoticon

@bap : Really? But should I wait? I'm thinking of digging it up and taking it to the beach. Everything grows wonderful there but then I may not have a house to keep it in so better wait. I have orchids constantly blooming there with little attention. My DH was yelling for me to come on Saturday when the tides were beginning to flood and I told him I wasn't leaving until I watered the plants. Who knows how long before they get another drink?

@ladybeachbum :
I'm sure it would do well in sandy soil as well, I always see them growing there. Hope everything is OK with your house.

@bap : I have them inside. The house has glass doors on two sides with glass windows in the peaks so plants never go outside. If something gets sick here, I take it there. There's always aloe growing in case someone gets a sunburn.
