We've already bought the shirts and gear. Now there's a possibility our ES Eagles may not be Eagles? That's kinda major.

@HumbleGirl :

This may sound dick-ish, but me personally, I don't care about sports, or logos or any of that.

Sure we buy our kids the t-shirts and other stuff, which will be a significant financial burden on us 'poor' people in CC, but I'm more concerned with my kids getting a good education than what their school mascot is.

Am I wrong with the sidewalk requirement?

@757beach Probably are right about the sidewalk stuff. And I would be very surprised if many from that section let their kids walk to ASE and are not car riders. So doubt they will walk to the new school.

they didn't discuss the middle and high school boundaries at all last night

@AlettertoElise :

That's what I'm most interested in hearing. I'll try to make the one at ESE tomorrow night and see if they open up about that. Might be a less rowdy crowd since ESE won't be impacted as much.

I hear you. I am embarrassed by the way some of the fellow Eagle Springs residents are acting, and some of the nasty words some are spewing.

Yep....I saw some true ugliness and snobbery on this issue on the community FB page. It makes me sad.

It took a lot of restraint to not respond to some of the snobby remarks I saw on FB. Somebody was commenting somewhere along the lines of living in an area where all of the homes are $500K-$800K and home values being affected. Am I missing something? I am not aware of any $800,000 homes in ES.

I definitely understand the safety issue, and am sad about kids who will be separated from their friends, and that will be leaving their comfort zone, but when people start harping on what a better area they live in, and how much more their houses are worth, and that they deserve to go to a certain school more than others.....that's just out of line.

As someone that has been through a lot of life changes with two small children - I can honestly say that these kinds of changes might be uncomfortable but as parents if we lead the discussions in an optimistic way, the kids will be fine. Kids are so resilient, they will have friends in whatever classroom or school they find themselves in. They can play with old friends on weekends or afternoons, and meet new ones too. It really will be OK.

Every time we are in one of the schools my husband and I talk about how incredibly nice the schools are and the amenities and programs that are in place that we didn't have. We are all so blessed to have what we have.

And diversity is GOOD. When they grow up they will live, work and worship with people of all incomes, faiths, skin-colors etc. Better start now!

Not that I think the population in Claytons' Corner or the Groves is all that diverse compared to ES. I mean, ya'll, for reals.

And who is Clayton and why does he have a corner and what tax bracket is he in? So many questions.

In my 12 (13 counting K5) I went to 8 different schools in 3 different states, in 5 different school districts. We lived in a new area in one state that I was transferred to the new school twice. This was middle school. A tough time for any kid to switch schools.

I agree with @Cabin_Mama kids will survive. It's the parents that need to change their thinking. Someone said somewhere that one elementary school feeds 2 different middle schools around here. So you can't always guarantee your kids friends will follow them.

And unless someone poured $200K into their backyard or renovations I don't believe we have $800K homes here. The most I saw was $600K with upgrades. Most are under $400k.

Part of an education and keeping kids interested in school is building that school pride. Not just sports. There's a reason there are a variety of clubs and activities like band and drill team for schools...and yes, it's very important.
