You are not wrong about the attitude of ES peeps. Not all, but....
I live here & see it.

I'm glad I'm not on Facebook. I hate all the negativity and ugliness going around these days whether it's the zoning or the election etc. I have a very short fuse, so it's best for everyone that I'm not in the mix, lol....

@AlettertoElise :

I've really held my tongue on FB. There are some really, really uptight snobs on there.

They are so tied up in their own lives and the boundaries of their own 'community', they don't realize that they are friends and even family with people that they are trying to 'ship out'.

Agreed on all of the above...but some of the concern is also safety. A very real concern. Kids walking a good distance in an area under construction is not good at all. Major safety precautions will be needed.

And then the other concern is the middle and high school part. We all cheer on the eagles whether we have kids there or not. Weve worked hard to build a community following that AHS struggled with initially. We've already bought the shirts and gear. Now there's a possibility our ES Eagles may not be Eagles? That's kinda major.

But that still seems to be undecided. Did they talk about that at the meeting? I'm going tomorrow.

Lol, I can see the comments on Facebook. Sad.

I always had a concern with my kids crossing timber forest. I think the only main road they will have to cross will have crossing guards.

@Humblegirl, they didn't discuss the middle and high school boundaries at all last night. Hopefully people will be able to drag it out of them in the next meeting!

Safety was definitely discussed last night. The speaker assured everyone that it would be safe for the kids to walk/bike to the new school as the infrastructure would be in place, but people were not buying it.

The kids in caliterra chase and Cades will be making a right out of the subdivision onto timber forest. Better than crossing timber forest with no guards

It has been a shame the way some of the ES folks on FB bashed on Clayton's Corner like it is somehow your fault the neighborhood didn't get their own school. We all pay the same taxes and the schools belong to everyone not just the neighborhoods they are located.

When they swapped you guys to ASE did they offer any bus routes or is it still considered too close for buses?

@757beach
Dump trucks, cement trucks, speeding workers. Lack of homes and people around if help needed. Wooded areas, road debris.

I was an early settler in ES. I remember what that was like.

@757beach The way I see it is there will probably be a lot of construction and land clearing happening in the area after the school opens up. This will be a lot of heavy vehicle traffic. You should see how the dump trucks drive in the Groves. Its terrifying. A few months back one crashed into the community center play area because it took a turn too fast.

@daddyo9 :

Yes, they still send buses to pick up our kids. I think it had to do with the major intersection Timber Forest @ Will Clayton.

Thanks for the words of support.

And maybe I am missing the obvious. But the kids will be on the sidewalk until they arrive at the crossing. With a crossing guard. Or how many streets would they have to cross where dump trucks are coming.

I don't think there are sidewalks yet.
