@HumbleGirl I just don't see how they can make everybody happy. Yes, it is upsetting for the kids who are split apart from their peers, but it happens every time a new school opens. How can it be avoided? I have issues with the fact that my son's school is split between two middle schools (where is the logic other that simply numbers), but I suppose the board can justify it?

@busymommy, no one at the meeting was trying to say that they were better than anyone else. They were saying that the kids being bussed in (The Bridges goes to ESE; Clayton's to ASE) could be moved easier as they are already going to schools outside of their neighborhoods....vs breaking up Eagle Springs into 3 schools.

I will add that my DD's BFF lives in one of these two neighborhoods, so I would like for them to continue going to school together....but I do understand the frustration the rezoned families are facing.

But if they send CC to the new school (and thus the new middle school) that would mean that single neighborhood would go to a middle school that differs from both neighborhoods next to it (TF goes to HMS and the front part of ES to TMS). Same thing for high schools.

There will be a second meeting tomorrow night at ESE. I will not be attending this meeting, as I'm sure it'll be a duplicate of last night's meeting.

Per an email I received from ASE this morning, the "proposal" is on the Humble ISD agenda for 12/13 at 7:00. From this short timeframe, it is obvious that this will be passed and implemented....

@AlettertoElise
I thought the meeting at ESE is tomorrow night? Did they announce something different last night?

From what I've heard it think you are correct. They have already decided. It's unfortunate for the parents this affects.

I could see zoning the bridges to ESE, why because no real people live in that zone now and it will hopefully settle out the numbers. My 2 cents

Would they rather go to overcrowded schools?

@BusyMommy :

What I find hilarious is that ES peeps were concerned about overcrowding, now that it is being addressed, now they don't want their snowflakes 'bused' to the rough side of town, aka, The Groves.

Yes, I live in Claytons Corner. My kids got moved from ESE to ASE when it opened. Yes, we have to drive further now, when ESE is basically around the corner from us, but we got a good deal out of it. Great school, what I thought were good people, but now I'm seeing another selfish, entitled, self-centered side of them.

All in all, I think that if you live near a school, that is the one you should go to, period. This is HISD. The schools do not belong to Eagle Springs. They belong to the residents in this area.

If they were really concerned about overcrowding, bus some ES kids to Whispering Pines. That's what they want to do to us, because we are on the wrong side of the tracks.

We pay ISD taxes too. Our houses may not be as big, and yes, you may pay more in taxes than us, but we didn't choose the big house, you did. Our kids deserve to go the HISD schools also. If they happen to be located in your neighborhood, well, that's just the way it is. And no, Whispering Pines is not closer than ESE.

There is a prevalent entitlement attitude in ES. It has shown up on the ES community FB page and at the meeting last night. Not everyone, but if you weren't there, you didn't see it. Obviously, I'm not referring to all ES people. We know some great people from there, and some of them will be affected by this move too, and that sucks.

Pathetic.

I am still confused how the groves is considered to be lower than eagle springs in some people's eyes.

I don't think they thought the Groves would be "lower", everyone expressed that they thought the school would be as good as the other two. But they didn't feel that ES kids should be forced out when there are others that could move instead.

I will clarify that my daughter's BFF is @Atascaguy's daughter, so we are happy that the girls will get to stay together!

I did see the bad attitude the @Atascaguy mentioned above from some at the meeting last night, and it was sad. Felt very Kingwoody to me.

I know, I'm exaggerating, but The Groves is still 'right there'. It's not like it's really even out of the ES footprint. It's right around the corner from a lot of people.

The bottom line is, these are all still good schools. We should be thankful.

I do not want my daughter to lose some of her friends though. It's going to crush her.

My other daughter lost some friends when she moved from ESE.

@757beach :

It's not, but the way some of these people were acting, it was like they were shipping them to the 3rd Ward or something.

"My kids being bused to another great school that isn't within the boundaries of Eagle Springs? Balderdash! "

"Overcrowding! Community atmosphere!"

I keep seeing these buzzwords.

HISD is handling the overcrowding. Be careful what you ask for.

I've seen some ES parents complain and complain about their snowflakes being in temp buildings. It's just not dignified. Now, they seem to be okay with it. Isn't that weird?

As far as community atmosphere? Give me a break. The community is still there. Your little masterplanned society is not going to break down if you let kids from the wrong side of the economic tracks attend what you consider to be 'your schools'.

I'm glad I'm not on Facebook. I hate all the negativity and ugliness going around these days whether it's the zoning or the election etc. I have a very short fuse, so it's best for everyone that I'm not in the mix, lol....
