It's clearer on there. I do not have any little ones anymore, but I have read the fb posts and there is a lot of unhappy people around ASE.

But a school board member did reply that this is a PROPOSAL, not finalized. So if you are not happy, go to one of the meetings and voice your concern.

I love how some of the ES people thinks their little ones cannot go to a school outside their little geographical area.

Starting to sound like the KW bubble a bit.....

It's all HISD. It might be a little inconvenient, but they are still good schools.

I'm sure there are some unhappy people this am. Parents are worried about breaking the news to their kiddos.

We are very fortunate to be discussing three good schools tho.

I wonder how they decided to remove the Timber Forest half of ES that currently attend ASE?

If you live here, do your kiddos ride the bus to school or walk currently?

Will the new school be closer?

Bottom line is if you want your child at a certain school, buy a house across the street from it.

Am curious if they will bus to the new school. Doesn't seem much further but with all the construction that will be happening along Timber Forest it might not be safe for walkers.

Personally I don't understand the complaints I'm seeing. It will be a nice new uncrowded school. Saying it is breaking up the neighborhood feeling seems odd considering we already have two schools that split us. I'll probably go to the second meeting for the entertainment value. Also hoping to hear potential ideas for how the new middle school will fit into this.

We are not affected by the proposed zoning, and I really feel for those that are. Some of this re-zoning does not seem to make any sense at all. Why is The Bridges zoned to ESE?
So many people were up in arms about the overcrowding issue.....so there is now a new school to alleviate the situation, and now people are mad about the re-zoning. I think I would rather have my kid attend another school in the area than be at a school with too many kids. However, I do think the re-zoning should have a little more thought put into it. It's just one of those things that no matter how the boundary lines are drawn, there are going to be unhappy people. As somebody else suggested, this is a really good school district, and all 3 schools will have great teachers, and it will be a great place to send your kids to.

@Littlegoo :

I didn't even notice that extra ESE section. Not sure that is the Bridges though or at least the main housing area. Looks like it will be whatever gets built up on the East side of WLHP between the Bridges and the train track overpass.

@daddyo9

I have read that "The Bridges" is zoned to ESE. They are supposed to get their own Elementary school at some point, but for now they go to ESE. On the map, ESE is purple, so there is that neat little square of purple, and then way down the road there is a little blob of purple, where The Bridges is. The Groves would have made much more sense, or even Lakeshore, but maybe they figure since they will get their own school they'll just group them in with ESE for now, just like they did with The Groves kids this year.
