in a place where the majority of the power lines are buried, that the power goes on and off as much as it does!
@Vinbert :
True dat....I've said the same thing....When I lived in Houston pre-2000's, all the lines were on poles in my 'hood and, ironically, we pretty much never lost power....It took a hell of a storm to knock it out....And if it did go out, it was on in less than two hours....We never had a generator then....
When I moved out here, at first the power would go out with just a large breeze, but never stayed off long....The outages eventually became less and less frequent over the years....Then, all of a sudden around the "Covid Years", we've got the flakiest grid I've experienced....Now I lose power several times a year and not even because of bad weather...And the power stays off 8 hours or more at times....It's to the point that I have to constantly keep 5gallons of fresh Gas in my backyard shed just in case I have to dig out my portable generator because of long term power loss...
And the "slap in the face" is that I noticed Centerpoint recently raised their rates on my monthly bill....So the service is getting less dependable but the consumer's cost is rising?......Sign 'o the times!....
