@chasinghosts Chicago beef is the closest to Chicago pizza for me. I love deep dish but also love really thin pizza as well. I don't like Italian beef and never have. I can't even stand the smell... Growing up my parents would only make it once a year on New Years eve. Otherwise we would take a ride to Chicago and go to Mr. Beef and my parents would get Italian beef while I got pizza. Emoticon

Brooklyn is my favorite in this area. I like Brothers Pizza in Spring even more. If you're looking for classic New York pizza I can recommend Tony's New York Pizza near Willowbrook. It's just like walking into a place off the street, dark and cramped with a case full of pizzas on display, and the specials are really good value.

@Britsls : Wow, welcome Britsis! Great to have you on here. You're lucky your parents accomodated you. Mine would have said you eat what we eat or you don't eat most of the time. My Grandparents on the other hand would over endulge us. We love Chicago Beef, their pizza isn't bad, but we both love a Beef and it's just far enough that we only go every few months. There are times when they've made my life down here bearable. The only problem I've had with them is they used to add sugar to their bell peppers, now instead they aren't adding it (at least they didn't last time we went) and they are undercooking them. That's better than extra sugar any day though. Their fries are amazing. I used to like the Mr. Beef on Harlem, but I really prefer Johnny's on North Ave.. We had a great Rosati's for pizza.
What area are you from?

Everyone has their own preference. I make both thin and Malnatis (Lou's recipe that I got from one of their family friends)

@Joscei : Of course we don't call it that, we just call it pizza. But I posted my supporting info in the earlier post. Rosati's in my eyes is the top of the line now that Reggio's is gone.

@Joscei : The Chicago Pizza Police are who wrote all the articles I've posted silly. I never even had thick crust until I was married so maybe 1987. So I lived at least 32 years without having it.

@chasinghosts : I miss my Italian beef sandwiches back home. Love Portillos - beef and cheddar croissant with extra bell peppers.
