These are usually bought by parts dealers in lots. Very rarely does an actual person buy these to drive because they're probably not even in driveable condition.

About 20 years ago I bought an old Ford F-150 at Houston Auto Auction. I don't remember the model year, but for sure it was about 15 years old. I had to jump start it to get it home. It had a v8, and 4 speed manual transmission on the floor. I paid $700 for that truck and drove it to work every day for more than 5 years until one day when I had it parked on the street and a guy saw it, rang my door bell and wanted to buy it. I asked for $1000, he offered $500, and we settled at $650. I think that I got my money's worth out of that truck.
