@Weathergirl5 : we had new to district trainings this week. We have tomorrow thru Wednesday off (so we can do our compliance trainings), then we have 7 days. Kids come back on the 14th.

@mom2mms : Nice. New teachers had training this week and then returning teachers go back Monday. The kids come August 9th.

@RajunCajun : I have been in education for years. Taught preschool and loved that but no insurance. Then I was a para for many years. Last year was my first year teaching but it was hard. 60 hour weeks every week, no support from parents, mountains of paperwork and lots of other issues. I will give it one more try this year, but if it is not significantly better than last year I will peace out. No idea what I will do.

My teacher friend just changed school districts. She's in town, N W side. The new district doesn't look like what you and she described! You should consider that!@Weathergirl5 :

@Weathergirl5: that's ashame. Good luck to you. It looks like lone star college has lots of good vocational programs. Maybe enrolling in a certificate or 2 year program could work for you.

@RajunCajun : Yes all options are on the table at this point. Although I hope to be retired within the next 15 years so I'm not sure I want to make a huge investment in schooling. But I will definitely look around. Thank you for being supportive.

@Weathergirl5 : young people thrive with positive influences. I would imagine you are a major positive influence in some young lives. We all remember those one or two standout teachers that made a major positive difference in our lives. Too bad it has become such a difficult career

@redneckroy : Thank you for the kind words and yes you are so right! I still remember the names of some teachers who positively impacted my life and I do try to be a positive influence for my students. But I can't complete with TikTok, Snapchat and listening to music instead of instruction. But thank you again for your kind words â¤ï¸â¤ï¸
