@Mutton : I would never do this unless my kids were teens, but I'm not leaving the door open.
A 5,3, and 1 year old is insane to me.

Mutton : they were right outside at a tapas dinner. If they just closed and locked the room, this Wouldn't have happened.

BusyMommy : But there are other stories just like it where those factors aren't necessarily there. Elizabeth Smart. Jaycee Dugard. Natalee Holloway. JonBenet Ramsey. We latch on to these specific cases and they're worthy of months and years of obsessive reporting while other children barely receive a mention in the local paper? Why is that?

@nikkiole : I don't know. The media covers what people will watch/read with little concern for actually helping. I take note of every case I come across and always look at the pictures just in case. I let my youngest go ride his bike with friends today and was lectured by my oldest who informed me that boys get abducted and trafficked, too, and that Houston is a trafficking hub and that 9-13 is the "prime" age for boys.

I find myself remembering cases that I somehow can relate to. Jessica Cain was my age and I have followed that story from the beginning.

@Mutton : I'm not saying it's ok. But why would you leave the door open. Why wouldn't you lock it? Like let's leave our kiddo in the room unsupervised and in an opened unlocked room. And no I don't think it's ok.
