Lake Houston: Water is high today.

DD and I always go to the marina to take a peek at the water level when it rains a bunch. It's almost over the boardwalk, the dock cannot be accessed anymore, the steps are floating away and there is quite a bit of large tree debris floating in the middle of the lake. In the trash that's washed up, DD observed seven balls, two different shoes, about 20 fishing bobbers and a dead turtle. RIP, turtle.

I checked the lake level after hearing of flooding at Hwy 59. It is 2.4 ft. Above spillway.

Lake Conroe is very high so the dam is probably open to the San jacinto

Also heard that lake Conroe was closed to all boats, didn't say why.

We are at Cedar Landing and the water is almost covering the dock. Water is super dirty and full of debris.

Effective immediately, the San Jacinto River Authority is temporarily closing Lake Conroe to motorized boat traffic due to the presence of submerged objects, floating debris, and other hazards that could put the safety of boaters at risk. I just walk down to our apartment's fishing pier and look at the level. :-) But I am amazed by all of the trash and debris floating around!

Most of the heavy rain fell in the SJ river watershed. This is a big flush for Lake Conroe and Lake Houston. Isn't nature funny, just 4 years ago Conroe was 8 ft. Down, now 2 ft high.
