Harris County Sheriff Investigator Deputy Darren Almendarez was shot at the Joe V's parking lot after he confronted three suspects stealing a catalytic converter.The off duty Harris County Sheriff Deputy was shot at a grocery store parking lot at 2929 FM 1960 and Aldine Westfield Road. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but he passed away due to his injuries.He served for 23 years and most recently served in the auto theft division.
