? for the Grandparents
Do you find yourself watching the grandbabies more intensely than your kids when they were littles? I recall having a convo with a co-worker years ago. Co-worker said that she watched her grandkids intensely because she had such a feeling of responsibility. She said there's no way that she could have watched her kids like she watches her grands. I find myself doing the same thing with ours. When our kids would have some slight injury I would be like, eh, walk it off. When the grandbaby pulls something on herself or falls backward or whatever I'm like, "Aaack! OMG! She slightly hurt herself" So, how about y'all?

No I don't think that I watch my grandkids differently then I did mine. Same saying, "it will be healed up by the time you get married." But I also don't see them that often, the 4 & 6 year old are a day travel away, so see them once a year or so. And the now 10month old I see about every 2-3 month, and that one just started crawling, so it may change?

@RajunCajun :
And now that they're teens it's actually worse than when they were little. I don't have as much control over where they are and what they're doing. You just pray for the best.

Wow. I see our local one almost weekly--sometimes several times a week. I kept her F/T for 6 months before we shipped her off to day care. The one that lives in Houston-not as much but will see more often now that I'm not the day care provider for the first grand. I'm aiming for seeing Houston grand every six weeks or so.

@RajunCajun : Yeah, sometimes I am sad that I don't get to see them that often, but it is what it is. Try to remind myself that my husband and I moved away from family to another continent and we did not necessarily care what our parents thought about it. We did it for our job opportunities. Now having the same scenario with my kids I have to deal with it as well! But I have to say that nowadays with technologies it makes things a lot better as we do have video calls on a regular base.

@AGLLM :
For sure about tech. And our kids have it so much easier, too, because of tech. They have WFH opps, curbside pickup and instacart so they can get groceries delivered. I get jealous about that sometimes since we didn't have WFH opps The only thing you could get delivered was pizza. That said, I'm glad us old people have curbside pickup and instacart options. Can be a real lifesaver when ill or unable to drive-even if that's only temporary.
