I would've preferred locally made too. But I live in reality and know that most of what we have in our homes are "Made in China". When we live in a country that has workers willing to work for pennies, then this will change. OR, when we are willing to pay more for our TVs, appliances, etc.
Until then, get used to it. If we took the USA ones, we probably wouldn't be able to get 4 for free.

Also…….
Their gonna kill us one way or another.

How about we move past comments/jokes like this …(using "they" for an entire race in a derogatory way) . Really not funny any more considering that Asian people are getting physically attacked.
Oh…and quick grammar lesson . 'Their' is possessive. The correct spelling is "they're' for 'they are'. ELA teacher here, can't help myself! 🙂

@texas2011 : The problem that I have with China is many of the "workers" are not paid. They are literally enslaved. I cringe when I buy something from China - and I buy as little as possible from China - because I wonder if the person was even paid at all. China has horrible human rights abuses, and I refuse to enable them so much as reasonably possible. Unfortunately, there are times when the only option is to buy or not buy a product. But I check the labels and buy the other option when there is one. I do this not because I am against Chinese people; I do this because I am actually FOR Chinese citizens.

@texas2011 : Well I guess we can thank the government for not wasting our money on domestic made product so we could get them for free from China. Considering the optics I would think most would rather had domestic.

@Boonie :
I doubt it. If so, then those people would not own one "China Made" product in their home, and they also wouldn't do much shopping at WalMart. People want cheap.
This is just another talking point that is useless and divisive.

Also, I think people are forgetting that China got a head start on the manufacturing of tests. And were better at it.
We were behind. And one of the MAJOR snafus that led to our first surge was we rejected tests from China and tried to make our own early in the pandemic and they were flubbed….which slowed down our progress greatly.

@texas2011 : It's one thing to buy a cheap screwdriver at Walmart and pull cash out of your pocket vs the government paying for your free tests from the same country that let this virus loose. Again bad optics.

@texas2011 : On the upside who made it doesn't really matter as much as who tests it? Since they are being tested here. Hopefully they will ramp up production soon here too. They may have had no other choice as our communities are still suffering for employees, most likely this industry as well.
