Friendly Reminder

When someone is trying to cross the street at a Marked Crosswalk, VEHICLES MUST STOP for the pedestrian! Not proceed going 55 in a 30. Pct. 4 could write tickets out their *** on Kings Parkway.

@ParksideRes : It seems that everyone has forgotten all driving and courtesy rules and forget about parking. It's ridiculous. I'm thinking about taking sticky notes in my purse just to put a ***hole parking sticker on their cars.

@ParksideRes : Since you stated "trying to cross the street", are you thinking that autos must stop if someone is standing on the sidewalk/on the grass waiting to enter the crosswalk?

it should also be noted that if you step in front of a vehicle going 55 and get a good bumper connection , without any obstructions from overhanging trees , you may make it back to the walking area

@Sammee : yes they should as it's obvious they are trying to cross. Anyone trying to cross at marked crosswalks has the right of way. Same as crosswalks at intersections without signals.

@ParksideRes : The motorist is only supposed to stop if the pedestrian is actively in, or entering into, the crosswalk area.

Yes, people have gotten so impatient. I'm teaching my daughter to drive and have decided that it's one of two things. Either it's the best place to learn to drive defensively or the worst place to drive at all.

I got a tell ya, she's pretty good at it but this area scares the $**+ out of me!!

@Sammee : Which I was trying to do for 5 solid minutes with only honks and engine revs in return with a few middle fingers. I had to retreat multiple times. I've never been able to get someone to stop for us crossing.

They should be stopping when it's obvious they want to cross, but even trying to cross only gets attempted vehicular assault in return.

It's an issue across the bridge too even at stop signs with marked crosswalks.
Yeah folks go too fast on that street.
Think of the song, "Low Rider" by War and that's how I try to 'cruise' down around surface roads.

@ParksideRes : Good reminder. I live right near an elementary school with two crosswalks (and a 4 way stop) and I see blow thru the stop sign and cross walk on a daily basis! Same intersection where my dad was riding his bicycle back in December and this lady ran the stop sign and hit him with her car!!

@ParksideRes : I totally agree that stopping to let someone cross there is the polite thing to do. But, they don't have to unless we're in the crosswalk. It's like the pedestrian is expected to play Russian Roulette at that area and it is only going to get worse. That's the main reason we stopped using that trail. I'd like to see a walkway over the road there.

@ParksideRes : I go across that crosswalk pretty frequently and the drivers NEVER slow down for that crosswalk. The people driving down the street act like it doesn't exist - and people go way to fast down down Kings Pkwy considering it's a residential area.
