Food Magazine Says Texas BBQ Among Worst

KHOU Story Here

Excerpts:

Houstonians and residents of other Texas cities are doing a slow burn over a recent list in honor of National Barbecue Month.

Not only is the state that prides itself on its barbecue skills not on the list, but Houston, Plano and Fort Worth are ranked in the 10 worst cities.

WTH-Town?

The list comes from an international food magazine called Chef's Pencil, according to USA Today.

So, what do international foodies know about barbecue? Apparently, nothing.

They used TripAdvisor ratings of the 75 largest cities and ranked them based on average rating.

TripAdvisor says don't blame us!

"Tripadvisor has no association with this BBQ study presented by Chef's Pencil. In fact, we have concerns about the use of and presentation of Tripadvisor data within the study, inclusive of how they ranked cities and states against each other,"

@EddyFree : That's called opinion, but if you hate Texas so much, why do you live here? Seriously, you don't like the politics, or even the BBQ, why do you want to live here?

@justanirishgirl :

You do realize that just because I post a topic for discussion doesn't mean I agree with it or not....If I come across a topic I think people will have an opinion on, I'll post about it....Sometimes I don't even care about the topic and don't participate in the discussion at all but I know others would be interested....

And for the record, TEXAS has the BEST BBQ in the world as long as I'm still rockin' the Grill here in the backyard.....

@EddyFree : I have to say, friend , that from your posts, I thought you hated Texas, I so sorry, if I'm wrong, and you don't hate Texas, and Texans. I'll bet I'm speaking for a lot of us, Thanks for clarifying this, because no one would have known from you previous posts!

I see Kansas made a list. What about Tennessee or Kentucky? I thought one of those states claimed to have THE best barbecue?

It's based on average reviews so if you have a place with few bbq restaurants and idiots who don't know what bbq should taste like give them all good reviews then there's your skewed results. Like that dumb list of the most dangerous places to live that puts Humble at the top...yea ok. Nobody is going to Seattle for the bbq.

The County Line BBQ (used to be over by Willowbrook but sadly, they closed years ago) was the best I've ever had. I have yet to find anything even remotely comparable. I'd rather just grill my own Emoticon

How to get people on the internet to notice you? Make people angry.

Even better, let's make a list and number it best to worst based on whatever criteria we decide and post it on Twitter.

We'll make the same list next year and rearrange the order based on a different criteria and make new people angry.
