GENERATION PARK - Forest Fire
During current Burn Ban very important to avoid spark-causing activities, such as setting off fireworks, building campfires, or driving/parking on dry grass. Properly extinguish cigarettes; it may seem like a small thing, but discarded cigarette butts are a common cause of brush fires. This forest fire was most likely caused by ATVs.

Last night a call came in for a "Wildland Fire" off W. Lake Houston. With heavy fire coming from a wooded area, additional resources were requested to help assist with fire extinguishment. We would like to thank Southlake EMS, Crosby Fire Department, Atascocita Fire Departmentï¿¼, Eastex Fire Department, and Harris County Fire Marshals for all of their hard work and effort from last night. ðŸ’ªðŸ¼

Yesterday evening Sheldon Community Fire & Rescue, along with mutual aid agencies, responded to a wild land fire which had been rekindling for 3 days. With a lot of work, crews were able to contain and extinguish the fire. A very special thanks to Texas A&M Forest Service, Eastex Fire Department, East Harris County Emergency Communications, and Atascocita Fire Department for providing additional support.

Someone in Kingwood was walking on the greenbelt and came upon a still burning cigarette that someone had left behind! They extinguished it immediately. Grateful that they found it in time!!!!!!!!

@Cbear: I noticed when I was driving I n 99 near Kuykendahl that the median in the middle was burned for almost a half mile. People really need to be careful. It could have been a car fire but also a cigarette. Kind of crazy. I can't believe we aren't on water restrictions
