@cousindan : Or an incorrect meter read previous month.

We can feed to the grid here and receive credits too. It's not just co-op.

@Vinbert : I could be wrong, but a balance of (-) means you don't owe anything.

@ParksideRes @cousindan :
So, there's no solar panels on the house.
I don't know how it's set up, my mother had been part of the co-op since the house was built back in the 90's. They transferred the account over to me, when I was named administrator.
No one is living there, but we've kept the thermostats at a reasonable number, to prevent humidity and mold. Average bill has been about 50 bucks a month, even with that. We do have internet and wireless going, along with the alarm system.
Basically, at the end of the year, after they pay their costs out, whatever is left over is divvied up between the co-op members. The disbursement this year paid the December bill in full, and gave me a credit towards January. I'm fairly certain the co-op is listed as a non profit.
Also, no incorrect read on the meters. You get your credits back in December.
*edited to correct February to January. I was thinking of when I pay it, not when the billing is for!

@eighteen :
I know. The credit back from the co-op completely paid my December bill, and what's left over goes to the next bill. That's how much I'll get credited on my next bill.
So, the capital credits completely paid the December bill, and will cover about half of January.

I'm on Pedernales elec COOP with the hill country house. The dividends that they pay to lower your bill are taxable, so it just adds to my Federal Tax bill.
