When the scales says to you "one at a time please", you know you are in trouble.

@nikkiole : I was really thin when I was i middle & high school - weighing between 105 and 110 pounds - was 5'3". I had massive anxiety which would be diagnosed as an anxiety disorder nowadays. Not once did my doctor ask about eating habits or if I was eating enough, etc. I was thin and wasn't usually working at it because my anxiety was so bad that food tasted wooden a lot of times. At times, I could only force myself to eat 1/2 a sandwich at lunch. It was pretty rough. Yeah, doctors need to ask about being too thin, too, because it can absolutely be an indication of anxiety, depression, or eating disorder.

I just remembered that when my kids were in elementary school, they did some kind of study where they weighed the kids once a week for a few months and sent home the information to the parents. At the end of this time, they asked if I was more aware of my kids' weight. The assumption was clearly that all of the kids were over-weight. My kids were actually slightly underweight. I really didn't know how to answer their stupid survey. Honestly, schools need to get out of the business of weighing kids. I remember when I was in middle school, we had a girl who was obese - probably morbidly obese-and we started the health unit of PE class. Our PE teacher insisted on weighing everyone - one by one - in front of everyone. No problem for me since I was thin. But this poor girl obviously did not want to be weighed. The teacher insisted that this girl step on the old-fashioned weight balance scale. I felt so bad for her. I look back on it and think what purpose did this actually serve except to humiliate the poor girl?
