Dem Governor
How do you think this will go now that we have a governor that is for open-borders and has championed taxpayer-funded health care for illegal aliens and sanctuary cities in our state? You all were complaining about the Commissioners voting to up our property taxes. What taxes will we need to do what she wants? I believe she is for a state income tax. The Texas legislature can keep her in check but is that what we wanted?

I have concerns but didn't like Abbott either. I guess we'll see. Hoping our next president will also want a secure border.

#msg2214583ParksideRes : This is how your post should have looked. Why do you always feel the need to include stupid comments like this? Why don't you try to be better than that?
#msg2214581The ban on income taxes in the state is in the Constitution...
I am still shocked that from last Governor race to this one.
Greg increased his vote total by 2%.
And the Democrat increased by 48% That is truly remarkable,
I wonder if that is a record for any state Governor election.

#msg2214587ParksideRes : Well, you have made me feel a whole lot better. Let's just hope that the state legislature stays red and the people of the state don't get manipulated.
The legislature won't be completely red. The Democrats won the House.

It's fantastic, isn't it?
The borders won't be open.
• Federal Authority: Under the U.S. Constitution, foreign affairs, national sovereignty, and the regulation of immigration and international commerce belong to the national government. Federal agencies-primarily U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Coast Guard under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)-enforce immigration laws, manage ports of entry, and patrol borders.
• State Role: Individual states do not have the power to regulate international borders or create their own independent immigration policies. While some states deploy National Guard units or fund state-level border operations (such as Texas's Operation Lone Star) or cooperate through federal programs, the U.S. Supreme Court has repeatedly affirmed that primary and exclusive authority over immigration and foreign borders rests with the federal government.

You know how it makes it much harder for ICE to do its job if the state is fighting them at every turn. She doesn't want local police to help and she can make sure of that. So not sure why you think all that is a good thing for Texas.
