Copperhead bite! My kid got bit by a copperhead yesterday. If this ever happens to you head straight to Kingwood hospital!!!!!! They have the anti-venom. Lots of pain meds, zofran and anti-venom. Terrible experience just terrible! She was admitted yesterday not sure if she gets to go home today. Watch out for yourself!

@lynnsgirl : Any updates?

You will rarely go wrong with soap and water to reduce the potential for infection (risk of infection is perhaps the greatest risk from any animal bite) followed by a visit to the doctor.

@lynnsgirl : so sorry. i have seen pics of where a copperhead will blend into a tree bark. i hate snakes. you can get something that you can spread on your yard that will help. i think its called critter ridder. you can use mothballs and put in a empty drink bottle . now if you really want to get rid of them go buy some fox pee and spray it around your yard. it smells so bad but it works. i will pray for your family.

Updates, we spent Saturday night in the hospital. Once discharged went home with pain meds and instructions.

A baby copper head has more venom than the mother.

At the end of the day Kingwood had a total of 5 bites. Two copper head and two rattle snake bites.

Look out folks serious business.

Thank you for thoughts and prayers.

@lynnsgirl : Yep .... and since they are babies, they don't yet control how much venom to inject. They will bite until they are empty. Adults control their venom, since they rely on it for food.

Rattlesnakes? Here? Were we in that much of a drought? I know Galveston has them and other parts of Texas.

Luckily Dr Greene works at Kingwood and is the snake bite/toxicology expert you want to see if you encounter a venomous snake. I see him help people out on Facebook all the time.

Y'all need to join one of the snakebite groups on fb. Dr Greene is a moderator of the Southeast Texas Snake ID group and it will really help to dispel a lot of these myths.
