I would be shocked if they really did away completely with plastic bags and baggers. They will lose too much business. They may follow other industries and revert to paper cloth bags available for purchase, or plastic bags for purchase.

I highly doubt the bag ban. Austin, Laredo and some other towns tried it and the state Supreme Court came in and said nope.
Now that's probably just if a government body tries to ban it, I don't know that it would affect a company doing it itself. But I feel people would be very resistant to that change.

@Andi7 :
Oh I might have to get one of those too if no more bags. Time will tell. Thanks for researching that.

I wonder if they will go back to just paper bags. I get them sometimes at HEB. I miss the paper bags from back in the day.

@Andi7 : Especially for cold foods in the summertime. The double bag would ice cream from being a mess before you could get it home!

Should not be a problem for me, I don't buy much there. Kroger is too expensive, I really don't understand why so many old people shop there that are on fixed income.

@drmfalcon7 :
I agree with you on that, but they need to retrain them, I only use my own bags I have been doing it for several years now I lay the cold bags first and put the cold items next to said cold bags and damn if they don't put the food that does not have to be kept cold in the cold bags I mentioned this to them one day and they gave me the look, I never mentioned it again.

Maxsmom : Yes, and on old folks it is not so easy. I don't like it where I have to put all my groceries on the belt in the first place. Now I have to put everything back in a bag? When you are around 80 years old, It is not easy. I try to do all my shopping at once so that I don't have to keep going back. So that means you have a large amount of groceries in the cart.

@AMCLady : I get my groceries delivered. It's so much easier to take them from foyer to kitchen

I have been bringing my reusable bags to each store since probably the last 30 years. Don't care if it is a HEB bag and I bring it to Kroger or Aldi, etc. In Europe a lot of people bring what they call market baskets to the store, there you do not get many bags either. I guess I was trained well.

I don't shop at Kroger but I would hate this. I reuse the plastic bags as our kitty litter disposal. Having the bags to use for grocery stores seem like a real pain to me making sure you have bags in your car before going to buy groceries. I mean what if I want to go in and grab some stuff on my way home but my husband did the shopping and the bags are in his vehicle. Not to mention getting rid of baggers will put some people out of a job and slow down the process of the grocery lines. Bad idea

@Fiona : Me too but most of Kroger's bags have holes in them. รฐลธหœโ€š Target's are the best.
I also use them in the little trash cans and for puppy pads. We've been going through them like crazy.

@dac2010 :
Kroger vs HEB is cheaper in most cases, especially with the coupons. The problem you run into with Kroger is quality (produce, meat).

@Fiona : easy at my house, since I do all the shopping, so I always have bags in the trunk. But if I don't, I just get the plastic ones also and yes reuse these for trash cans, etc.

A clerk at Kroger just told me that soon you will have to provide your own bags. They will be doing away with all plastic bags and baggers. Sort of like what Aldi does, I guess. In fact, I probably would use my Aldi bags at Kroger.

@CarolS : I don't shop at Kroger.
