Canada geese
I had a gaggle of Canada geese waiting on me when I left work yesterday.

I think they are ready to go South. The one closest to me in the picture even had a GoPro to document their journey. He appears to be married, as he is wearing a wedding ring, albeit on the wrong foot.

Single geese (not wearing wedding rings) with no GoPro cameras around their necks.

Goose drinking rain water.

@Maxsmom :

Yes. If you bag a geese or duck with a band, you are supposed to call the number on the band and report it. They wear the band for life. Now, I don't know how the GPS tracking devices work... those seem to be more obstructive and heavy.

At least call them what they are Canadian Geese not Canada. It would be like saying Tex LongHorns instead of Texas.

You are incorrect. Do a simple Google search and learn something.

Here:
Canada goose is the common name for the species Branta canadensis. So, it is correct to call this bird "Canada goose" and not correct to call it "Canadian goose."

@sandman : Ok you got me, I can't never have any fun any more. Terrible grammar though. I've heard about them all my life and never once anyone called them Canada. Sorry for the dis.

@Maxsmom : The one's wearing wedding bands also have part of their you-know-what's missing. Those parts can be found in the little purses carried by their mates.

There was a group of Canadas by the pond near my parents house in Florida this morning. I guess they left early to get the Condo opened up for the winter….

No worries... it's a common mistake made by non-waterfowl enthusiasts and people from Chicago and NYC.
