Bug People...What's This??

I was sweeping the deck and putting washed cushions back on our patio furniture and noticed a TON of these little nests? They're very symmetric (perfect little circles with fine hair-like structures with tiny little white "eggs" on the end of each "hair." They're all over the underside of the iron on our patio furniture.

Tap the pic and enlarge to see more clearly (if you're on mobile). Do I need to wipe them off or set my house on fire? Emoticon

@TheCatsMeow :

Well, I can understand that question given how anal/OCD I am...but no. They came that way! Emoticon

Those little "hairs" you see are stuck to the iron and suspended with those creepy little eggs at the ends. And they're everywhere! I can't find anything on the Interwebs! Emoticon

Did a search and found green lacewing eggs that look very similar.

I participated in a USDA study in the 70's regarding lacewings......

The description of the egg is on target, but the location and pattern tell me no way. Scientific name is chrysopa...cool insect...three varieties. I see them occasionally around the house. Good bug, the larvae eat the bad bugs......and each other.......they are mean mothers.....our project was to figure out how to apply them on crops as a biological alternative to chemical spraying for bad bugs......Not possible.....sadly.

But, that ain't them IMO.

@blackhorse77 nice research you did. I'm impressed.

I'm interested to know 😁

Now that you've ruined their concealment you should sit on them and keep them warm until they hatch

Probably some kind of moth or butterfly. You could use this on them - www.homedepot.com/p/ Monterey-1-qt-Concen trated-Once-a-Year-I nsect-Control-L

and wipe down everything with this on some paper towels. I wouldn't want all that hatching on my porch.

Thanks, y'all! @Blackhorse77 and @TheCatsMeow solved the mystery! Now I know exactly what they are...I see them flying around often in the backyard. Tiny little things...I'm leaving them alone. Emoticon

Oh we have those - they come onto my window at night when I'm washing dishes. Teensy green glassy things?
