3% Property Tax Cut for Harris County

For the third year in a row, Harris County Commissioner R. Jack Cagle and the Commissioners Court have approved a CUT in the Harris County Property Tax rate.

The rate was lowered by 3% to $58.135 per $100 appraised value. This could amount to at least $54 per year to a homeowner of a $300,000 home with a 20% homestead exemption.

@cousindan : you can thank homebuyer deep pockets for that. Values increase yearly, but it's still never assessed anywhere near actual market value.

It's also the home financing gimmicks....People don't pinch pennies when they get EZ loans....As a result, an overvalued market develops...

Lousy Lina and worthless Garcia are trying to save face and get re-elected after the backlash when they voted to use our tax dollars for "legal fees for illegals". Isn't that just peachy?

@AtascocitaDotCom : I always get nervous when the government pretends they are doing us, "the little people", a favor. Wow ... let's bring out the party hats and the party blowers. If they claim to be "CUTTING" the tax, you can just bet they are RAISING it somewhere else!

Tax rate may be cut but property values are skyrocketing. So we'll all be paying more in the end.

Everytime I read these silly nicknames, it makes me think of an elementary school playground.
So immature. I always taught my students that this kind of name-calling says more about you than anyone else.
