Harris County Precinct 2 Mourns the Loss of Deputy Coddou

Statement from Commissioner Adrian Garcia:

"I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Deputy Investigator John H. Coddou, a 20-year law enforcement veteran. This morning, Deputy Coddou was assisting at a crash scene where he was hit and killed in the line of duty. As a former Sheriff, I will always remember days like today as the toughest. For me, it was always difficult to lose one of my own and then give the news to the family. I don't wish that on anyone, and I know how difficult this is for Sheriff Gonzalez, the entire HCSO team, and the deputy's family. My heart aches for this loss, and we fully support the family during this difficult time."

Just shows you how random life can be. If the officer hadn't been on that road, if he had passed through there one minute before the accident happened, if he hadn't decided to stop and help, if he had been standing in another safer area and if the driver who hit him had stopped in time, he would still be alive.

Condolences to his family.

It's always hard to lose someone but always seems harder when they wear blue. My prayers go out to this officer and his family . God Bless

The guy that hit and killed him was on a cell phone. As if driving isn`t enough of a task !!! Hate cell phones and people on them on the road. Folks on another site complain about others stopping in front of their homes for no apparent reason? Well it`s me. If it`s important enough to need my attention , I pull over and stop then make my call. most times it`s on silence and I discover the call later. Last time I took my phone to bed with me , my dad woke me to come say goodbye to my mom. Never took it to bed again. Bad news can wait.
