@cousindan : This area has been hit with several hail storms. Roofing companies have a program which can pin point which storm damaged your roof. I have had roofs replaced on 5 rental properties in the last 2 years. However, it's worth noting I do carry (Full replacement cost) insurance. Your mileage may be different.

I've been in the industry for years, and can confirm we've had a few recent storms that have caused hail damage to certain areas in 77346.Go with a reputable roofer to perform a legit inspection before filing a claim. Those that 'door knock' usually are chasing business whether or not you have actual damage. Reputable roofers don't have to do that. Period. Good luck, roofs are expensive and use local if possible. I got a new roof about 10 years ago! What a headache.

man, I have my DW up in arms saying we need a new roof...One of those door-to-door roof guys came over to offer a "free inspection". The first thing he asked was "who is your insurance company?" I told my wife not to speak to the guy, but been a woman that's useless... she won't listen to reason and thinks the insurance is going to just lay over and give us a brand new roof at $0 cost to us. Thank you, door-to-door roofing company guy... ****** ******!So, if I need a roof, I would call a roofing company after seeking referrals and doing my homework. I don't buy anything door-to-door, even elementary school fundraisers.

I still have damage to my roof from when a tree landed on it during Hurricane Harvey, but the repair estimate is only a few thousand, about the same as the insurance deductible. Apparently they wouldn't replace the entire roof just for damage on one side.

Ins co's are getting killed on roof claims, especially around Houston, all over Texas actually. Look to see (you already may have one) rood exclusions for age, if it's 15/20 yrs it's excluded, or putting ACV valuations on them vs RC.

April I believe. We've had several, some good windstorms too that will do some roof damage.
