Not talking about vacation or a study abroad program. Bt Actually living there.
Lately ive been finding myself wanting to get out of the US and go somewhere where im forced to be uncomfortable.

I just want something new. Maybe Taiwan or UAE. possibly Trinidad and Tobago

I lived in Japan from 1968 till end of 1970 . I loved the Japanese people & it's an interesting pretty country or was when I was there . I've been to Canada several times & it is BEAUTIFUL in British Columbia .Baniff & Lake Louise in Alberta are beautiful also . But as 1 man told us you can stand right here & watch your dog run away for 3 days . Meaning because it's so flat in most area's of Alberta . The portion near British Columbia is very pretty though .

@Thatguywhodraws : Who is going with you? How much safety do you want? Most countries will be great and an adventure. If you are under 40, no family go explore the world, you may never get to otherwise.

@Thatguywhodraws : I would search things like "Expat friendly countries" or something along those lines.

My sister & her husband work in the UAE. They love it. Pay is amazing & they live pretty luxuriously over there. It's also very westernized. They have made friends with people from all over the world.

My teens love the time difference because they can always FaceTime with their aunt in the middle of the night when they are being night owls.

They were coming to the states 2X per year but Covid-19 has messed that up this year Emoticon

The plan is to be there 5-7 years. They are 2 years in.

I lived in Panama 20 years. Felt both comfortable and really uncomfortable down there.

@Thatguywhodraws : I lived in Japan back in the 60s and Germany in the 70s. Also spent a couple of years in Bermuda...that was cool.

I love other countries, cultures and languages. Growing up in the military was educational.

@Thatguywhodraws :

The Spanish from Panama is like 5 times slower than that of the Dominican Republic... but is like twice as fast as any other Spanish-speaking country. Lots of contractions, missing syllables and idioms.

The good things about Panama are: uses the US Dollar; relatively cheap cost of living; a 4hr non-stop flight; a modern city on par with Miami, FL with all the conveniences you can imagine; friendly people that love the US.

The bad: the traffic; driving can be a hassle with confusing driving rules, poor signaling, etc.; stay away from the slums because you will be mugged; dealing with public servants is very frustrating; nobody ever shows up on time (dinner at 6 means at 7 or 8, the first is just a suggestion, since you have no idea how bad traffic is going to be).
