Nearly 1.5 million N95 respirator masks, a medical product that is crucial in hospitals fight against the coronavirus, haven't been shipped because they are past their expiration date, according to The Washington Post.

The masks are reportedly part of Customs and Border Protection's emergency stock. In a meeting Wednesday about what to do with the masks, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials decided to turn the masks over to the Transportation Security Administration, which has demanded masks of its own, according to the Post's sources.

The sources told the paper that CBP has no plans of giving the masks to hospitals or the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Isn't an expired mask better than no mask?

@HumbleGirl : as for Germany not exporting any PPE, they were still selling supply to China, even though they were warned that this virus will spread back in January, February. They also have shortages on certain things. So I do not blame them for not exporting these things right now. But they seem to have a lot more testing going on.

Watch this, the last minute or so really talks about this. Dr. Fauci. www.youtube.com/watc h?v=8A3jiM2FNR8

@HumbleGirl : He is the rockstar of disease science. Dr. Fauci is an amazing human who should right now be enjoying retirement but instead has to wear a cape and save our country. Like I said in a previous post Dr. Fauci is the real Hero right now.

The Houston area would be better if we could stop an influx from the hot spot of New Orleans, Louisiana too.

For some reason, we won't do what Florida is .... force them to quarantine when they get here.

I normally don't complain and have tried to understand the down play on what is being done here in the U. S. About the pandemic but I can't hold my tongue another second 🤯. First, I must say that This is not a political topic / statement ... I'm just wondering who made the decision that We die and other countries like Taiwan live?

Why didn't USA secure what we needed for us to survive? You can't tell me that our secret service didn't notice that exports of certain items were no longer available. Taiwan was prepared for this when the first cases appeared in China. They took immediate action in January. They STOPPED The exports of masks & Thermometers, screened & Monitored travels into Taiwan, immediately Isolated the infected & close contacts of the infected, they set up temperature check points in Businesses and schools. They imposed and enforced a $10,000 fine for violators, they Offered free testing for everyone and provided free food to the isolated people. I almost forgot this part ***#1- They learned from the past viruses and sent a team of doctor's to China to study COVID-19 when it was in the beginning stages. OUR elected administration was warned that this pandemic was possible back in 2017. Their response was to FIRE THE PANDEMIC TEAM two years before COVID-19. Because of Taiwan's quick actions they saved hundreds of thousands.

I'm really in a state of shock... we are being encouraged to get back to business as usual in a few weeks.... We are indirectly being told to send our older Americans onto the front lines to save our economy for their grandchildren. Our stay at home recommendation was a little too late. Now I'm hearing that we better hope that our state governor will play nice in order to get the crumb of help that US tax payers PAY taxes for. This virus is a living nightmare. Sticking your head in the ground or putting your fingers in your ears won't make this go away. Everyone please take time to tell your family & friends how much you love them right now. As for me , I'm going to get on my knees, pray to God to end this pandemic then wash my hands.

Nobody is saying get back to normal in a few weeks if we haven't made it through the worst of it. Nobody is telling older people to go die, it has been suggested that healthy people go back to work/normal life when worst is over and high risk stay at home until the threat has subside.
Our stay at home order was not late compared to other places. You don't shut things down until it is necessary. Individuals can choose to self isolate at any time if the perceive a threat. The governor of New York is more concerned about his citizens being asked to avoid spreading the disease (he thinks it isn't fair) than he is helping those in need.

If we had closed our borders immediately and refused to allow anyone, even citizens, in we may have had better results, but then the complainers would have thrown a fit. When people don't want drastic measures, we have to deal with the consequences.

@BusyMommy : Thanks for your take on my post. It's clear that people will see what they want to see and believe what they want. That's fine. I truly understand how people can choose to respectfully disagree and I will try to be a the better person.

Obviously not going to end anytime soon. CDC issued travel advisory for New York, New Jersey, Connecticut. I view it like a visit to the emergency room. You have all the patients (State Governors) asking for assistance, the healthcare provider (Federal Government) has to prioritize who gets seen first. Obviously the ones in the most dire circumstances take priority, and unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) that is not us.
