We do (sometimes to DH's dismay). I freeze lots of leftovers with the FoodSaver because I just can't throw stuff away. Lately I've been on a mission to use stuff out of the freezer. It makes for some interesting, random meals!!

With any leftover meat I will chop it up throw in in a pan and add some veggies and spices. Then make a wrap. Nothing goes to waste....

I try to as much as possible. Someone in my house isn't always agreeable, then he can go get something for himself and I'll just eat the leftovers.

I eat nothing that has burning or charring on grilled meat or cooked at high temperatures on a pit . High temperatures cause heterocyclic amines ( HCAS to form . These HCAS can damage a persons genes , raising the risk for stomach & colorectal cancers . ( Keep cancer off the BBQ grill / MD Anderson Cancer Center . When I was growing up my family never cooked food that had any black on it . Chicken was a golden color steak was never a dark color . At some point & time people started burning stuff on the grill. I eat some processed meat upon occasion but it's not a steady diet for me .

@Astrokatz : I eat the left overs because nobody is cooking here. Tonight will be Italiano's rerun. That pizza does look really good.

@bbk : I guess you have never had good smoked un-charred meat cooked for you. There are different types and ways of "smoking" meat fast and hot and slow and low cooking . These types are used in competition by different styles of cookers and what meats.

@Astrokatz : 30 yrs ago we lived next door to a guy that took an old ice box & made a smoker out of it . I will swear to what he cooked is the absolute best smoked food I have ever had . It would be a little difficult to be as old as we are & to not have had smoked meat . I don't care how anyone cooks I'm just saying go on line for yourself & see what MD Anderson says about food that is charred . I looked at your left overs & saw charring in the picture & figured you had no idea so I thought I'd let you & others that may not know about this know . But I'm not trying to tell you what you can & can't eat just a warning about something I knew about .

@bbk : I've read that, also, but by next month they will be telling us it is good for us. Everything in moderation is my motto. I love a good steak with the charred markings but don't eat it often anymore.

@LuGar : When we fire up the pit we cook a bunch of extra to put into the freezer in our seal a meal bags . All the stuff we are going to freeze we don't cook it completely because it will cook more when you reheat it in the microwave or in the bag in a pot of boiling water . When taken off the pit I let it cool then put it in a seal a meal bag & freeze it . after about 2 hrs or less I take it out of the freezer & then I vacuum pack it on our machine . If you vacuum pack it before you freeze it a bunch of the juice in the meat is sucked out & gets all over your machine & won't be juicy tender meat when you re-heat it . Doing this makes getting a meal fixed so fast & easy . I like having a bunch of gumbo in the freezer & soup & spaghetti sauce , all kinds of corn bread .

@ladybeachbum : In youth I gave up all kinds of stuff . You'll remember this , they said what ever you do don't eat butter eat margarine . Then after years of eating margarine they said what ever you do don't eat margarine . Then their was the what ever you do don't eat more than 1 egg per week . And as we know there is all kinds of warnings . One of my doctors many years ago asked me if I thought the home made spaghetti sauce I make had more salt in it than potato chips . I said the potato chips had more salt . He said wrong . The potato chips have salt on the outside of them & that salt is the first thing hitting your tongue & your tasting the salt first . He then asked what is healthier fresh vegetables or frozen . I said fresh . He said WRONG . Birds eye & others picks the vegetables up from the field the day they are picked & they are frozen quickly . The fresh vegetables some of them sit in warehouses for weeks before they make it to your grocery store . He also said with things that come in a box or can if you can't pronounce the words or a word on the label then don't put it in your mouth . Also don't cook with salt put it on your food at the table . Wish I had listened to everything he told me because I think it's sound advise . So much of this is common sense & just being aware of what your really putting in your mouth .
